Kellett’s Softgoods-Textile Index is a directory of textile and softgoods (clothing, table/bed linens, etc) manufacturers in the greater Melbourne area. Most were open to the public, a few were wholesale only. Some of the businesses listed in the 1953 edition are still in business, most went out of business or were bought out and absorbed by competitors.

I have created a map based on the 1953 edition of Kellett’s Index - all businesses with valid modern addresses (some streets no longer exist) have been given pins on a map. Some contact addresses are residential addresses - those have been noted on the map with house icons.

Businesses that still exist in some form have a star icon. Some businesses had multiple listed addresses - usually a main warehouse/office and a city showroom. These are seperate pins on the map.
